Saline Community Fair kicks off next week
From thrills and spills to livestock and carnival rides, there will be much to see and do next week at the Saline Community Fair. Check out the Saline Fair Tab supplement inside Thursday's Saline Reporter and additional stories inside the newspaper for more information about the annual event.
Among the highlights will be two pre-fair events, with the cement slab tractor pull 10:30 a.m. Sunday, and goat show 1 p.m. and Auto-Enduro Derby 7 p.m. Monday.
The fair official kicks off Tuesday at the Farm Council Grounds near Saline and has a $5 Value Day admission. The price is $7 the rest of the week. Gates open at noon Tuesday. Livestock judging will be going on throughout the day, with a talent show 6 p.m., mini-rod tractor pull at 6:30 p.m. and Miss Saline Pageant at 8 p.m. See The Saline Reporter for a feature story on the pageant’s history.
Gates open 9 a.m. Wednesday and midway rides will be available beginning 3 p.m. Among the highlights Wednesday will be a show by the Hermanns’ Royal Lipizzan Stallions 4 and 7:30 p.m. on the track.
Thursday is Preschool Children’s Day from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The $5 admission includes children’s rides from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Gemini will perform at 1 a.m. Regular price and gate admission begins at 2:30 p.m., with Pedal Power Pull at 2:30 p.m., Haflinger Hitching at 6 p.m. in the horse arena, junior livestock auction at 7 p.m. in Building B and regional/national tractor pull at 7 p.m.
Friday is Old Settlers/Ladies’ Day, with senior citizens 65 years and older admitted for free until 1 p.m. Gates open at 9 a.m. Among the events will be an antique tractor pull at 9 a.m., Ladies’ Day recognition at 1 p.m., Haflinger halter class at 3 p.m., tractor pulls at 7 p.m.
Saturday will include a parade at noon and rides opening at 1 p.m. the demolition derby state finals will be held at 7:30 p.m. and include an additional $5 admission fee at the track entrance. Fiddlers ReStrung will perform at 7:30 p.m. and a merchant drawing is set for 9:30 p.m. on the stage.
